God never ceases to astonish and amaze me with new adventures, new opportunities to share the gospel, and new and exciting ways in which He is at work. This has been our fifth mission to Belize and every single time, God has had new opportunities for us to serve and share His hope.
We started off the trip serving at a retreat for local youth workers, pastors and volunteers who serve teens and young adults, plugging them into the local church who may otherwise find themselves in gang communities. It was a great time.
Then we served in Belize City: visiting two orphanages and three schools. We distributed 100 Bibles to children in need. The look on their faces was priceless.
On our last day, we spent some time on the South side of Belize City where we had a divine appointment with a young boy from the community. We met him while serving at the lunch-feeding program at a church and he remembered me from two years ago when I shared my story in the park. He said, “I remember you. You told your story about how you received hope after your mother died. I just want you to know that my mother died recently and your story has helped me. Thank you for coming back.”
This is what LBM is about. We want to build relationships. We aren't there only to give kids bibles and sing them songs, we want to truly show them the love that God has for them. This can't be done in one trip. It is very common for missions trips to visit orphanages once and never come back. In fact, in Africa, the children have a word for people who visit but never revisit. That is why we are very intentional about going back to these places as often as we can in order to build meaningful relationships with these kids who may not have much stability in their lives. We are so honored to be God's hands and feet in Belize and many other countries.
We are so blessed to be given these opportunities to pour into these kids. None of it would be possible without your continued support.
